Julia Chain, Managing Director
Julia is Managing Director of Millnet and has 25 years’ experience in the legal industry. Most recently Julia was at RPC Perform where she was instrumental in advising clients on technical implementations such as matter management, document assembly and contract management. In 2004, Julia founded Kite Consultancy where she advised law firms and in-house legal departments on a range of issues, from organisation and design, operations, technical implementations and strategy to leadership, development, and change management. The company merged with H4 and in 2009 was acquired by Huron Consulting with Julia becoming a UK-based managing director. Prior to these roles, she was a managing partner at Anderson Legal, general counsel and board member at T-Mobile UK and worked at Shearman & Sterling in New York, and Herbert Smith in London specialising in corporate law.

Emma Kettleton, Director – eDiscovery Project Management and Consultancy
Emma is a Director at Millnet and is responsible for ediscovery operations. She leads a team of the most qualified Relativity project managers and consultants in the UK. Emma has over 14 years experience in ediscovery with previous roles at Latham & Watkins and Allens Arthur Robinson, gaining a wealth of experience in complex litigation cases.
Having more than four specialist Relativity certifications concurrently, Emma was recently recognized as a Relativity Master. The Master designation recognizes proficiency of technical skills.
Emma has been involved in hundreds of ediscovery projects involving many millions of documents. The largest matter that she has dealt with to date involved over 42 million documents. Other cases that Emma has taken the lead on was the first matter that was managed under the new TECSA eDisclosure Protocol, running numerous successful technology assisted review cases each of which saved clients substantial time and cost, providing around the clock technical and trial support to the international arbitration team at Latham & Watkins during a trial held in the Hague, and acting as lead project manager on a multi-million dollar construction case in Australia that involved coordinating over 100 lawyers to review and disclose hundreds of thousands of documents.
Costa Kypre, Director – eDiscovery Advisory & Business Development
Having worked in the litigation support industry for over 14 years, Costa has a vast amount of experience managing and consulting on a range of electronic disclosure and regulatory matters, including high profile and complex multi-jurisdictional matters, often involving a large number of parties. Costa has worked in senior project management and operational roles and has extensive consultancy and business development experience.
Costa has consulted on a number of internal audits and investigations and has considerable expertise working on cross border litigation exercises and regulatory matters including FCA, OFT, SEC, DOJ, European Commission investigations, second requests and races for leniency.
At Millnet, Costa leads the account management, business development and pre-sales consultancy teams for legal technology solutions in the UK. He is responsible for predominantly advising lawyers and their clients on the management of evidence and the use of technology in matters such as competition, regulatory, litigation and investigations. Costa has an expert knowledge of how legal technologies and document management techniques can most effectively and efficiently be utilised in the management of evidence. Costa works closely with in-house counsel at multi-national corporations including banks, financial institutions, pharmaceuticals and construction companies. Costa also provides consultancy and advice to law firms based in various global locations.
John Lapraik, eDiscovery Consultant
John has over 30 years’ experience of commercial disputes whilst a partner at Kennedys Law LLP and, previously, Mills & Reeve LLP and has had extensive experience of the challenges associated in working with large data volumes of paper and electronic data.
John regularly speaks on topics related to eDiscovery, with a particular emphasis on the practical approaches that can be adopted to manage the process of capturing, processing, searching, analysing and reporting on data. He has an extensive overview of what is happening as lawyers respond to the challenges that flow from the increase in data volumes and has delivered talks to hundreds of law firms across the country.
John has a strong interest in IT and its application to legal practice and this enables him to explain how technology can be harnessed to help lawyers manage increasing volumes of data.
Liam Bateman, Manager of Digital Forensics & Investigations
Having worked in the computer forensics and security industry for over 14 years, Liam brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Millnet. He leads the digital forensic and investigations team and provides consultancy to Millnet clients to assist them in understanding their IT systems, establishing sources of electronic data and defensibly collecting the identified data. Liam also a strong background in IT security which when coupled with his IT forensic capability, enables him to manage the more technically demanding data collection and forensic imaging requirements.
Meagan Sauve, eDiscovery Consultant
Meagan joined Millnet following a move across the pond from the US, where she most recently worked as a contractor to the Department of Justice in Washington, DC. One of her main roles there was to advise on Relativity Analytics best practices. Meagan designed custom workflows allowing government legal teams to intelligently review and interrogate many millions of documents shared across multiple investigations. Meagan draws upon over a decade of experience in various eDiscovery roles where she has encountered and overcome so many of the challenges our clients often face. She uses her expertise to make technology accessible, and to guide our team and our clients through practical solutions to complex real world problems.
AMeagan also holds the title of “Relativity Master” – the most advanced of the Relativity Certifications – which only 15 people in the world have achieved. This certification includes expertise in Relativity Analytics, Relativity Assisted Review (predictive coding) and Relativity Infrastructure and database design.
Robyn Hvidsten, Head of Operations
Robyn is a highly qualified ediscovery consultant and has been employed by Millnet for over 4 years. She is responsible for managing higher level risk and complex projects and works closely with all Millnet teams to ensure a project is delivered on time and to scope. As a Relativity Certified Administrator, Robyn provides ongoing support to clients in the advanced features of Relativity. She writes internal guidance documents as well as providing client training as required.
Sohael Qayyum, eDiscovery Consultant
Sohael has been in the ediscovery industry for 16 years and hold a law degree. Over this time he has gained experience on all aspects of the business from processing or hardcopy documents to the full ediscovery process. He has managed hardcopy processing teams, worked on the technical team and as a Project Manager. In his previous role as an Associate Director he was the Senior Project Manager of the support team as well as providing technical consultancy to clients on e-discovery projects.
David Smithson, eDiscovery Data Delivery Manager
With over 14 years’ experience in the litigation support industry, David has held a number of key positions including Production Manager, Project Manager and eDiscovery Manager. David has in-depth knowledge of processing applications such as Nuix, LAW PreDiscovery and Index Engines, in addition to review platforms including Relativity, Introspect, Concordance and Ringtail.
David has worked closely alongside Litigation Support Managers at a number of leading international law firms, as well as staff at UK government institutions, and therefore has a keen awareness of client expectations regarding tight timescales and an accurate delivery. Data manipulation is a particular strength of David’s, and this was proven recently at Millnet by his work in assisting a government agency project which dealt with over 150 load files from varying international sources and formats.
Gary Lawson, Associate Director – Development, Legal Support Services
Gary leads Millnet’s internal software development team. Gary created and continues to head the development of Millnet’s proprietary batch print software DocBuster, which is now in over 30 Law firms.
Aside from DocBuster, Gary focuses on developing programs to improve Millnet’s service offering surrounding the processing, review and production side of the EDRM. During his 13 years at Millnet, Gary has previously been responsible for Technical Operations and worked on a variety of eDiscovery projects covering a breadth of software platforms from the early beginnings of eDiscovery to the current day.
Emma Bolsover, Director – Legal Data Services
Emma Bolsover is a Director in the legal data services team. Her responsibilities include ensuring that Millnets’ engagement and contractual protocols are followed. Emma is also the director responsible for supplying the senior team with relevant management information and is the point of escalation for the sales and eDiscovery advisory team for finance queries and complex billing arrangements.
Emma was a founding member of Millnet’s pioneering e-discovery team when it was established in 2000 and has played a key role in the development of the consulting and project management team over the past 15 years. Emma was appointed to the Board of Millnet in December 2009. Emma holds a degree in law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law, York.
John is a co-founder of Millnet and was responsible for establishing Millnet’s financial print presence in the fast growing AIM market in the late ‘90s and through to the present day, along with extensive print work in the Investment Trust market. John is still responsible for financial print, Virtual Data Room and digital print sales to the financial community as well as the corporate departments in many of the leading law firms. He is also responsible for business development for all areas of the document services division focusing on his relationships with the Banking and Broking community.
David Alford Smith, Director – Hybrid Facilities Management and Special Projects
David has worked for Millnet for over 17 years. During this time he has held a number of positions, most recently Associate Director. David was instrumental in building the hard copy business at Millnet and continues to operate in the client facing area of the business. He is also project managing new job management software development with Millnet’s joint venture in India.
Steve Chadd, Director – General Manager Document Services
Steve is a Director of our Document Services business and manages a team of 50+ people spanning across a number of departments. Having worked for the company since 2011, Steve has worked his way up through the ranks demonstrating excellent people skills and tenacity.
Prior to Millnet, Steve worked at a number of law firms and in various roles within the legal support industry ranging from document specialist to business development executive. In addition to running the document services operation within Millnet, a large portion of Steve’s time is spent contributing to the company growth and innovation required inclusive of managing the sales team within the document services business.
Simon Walsh, Director – Digital Print Operations
Having worked in the digital print market place for over 24 years, Simon brings vast amounts of experience in both sales and operations to this rapidly growing product area. Before his time at Millnet, he progressed up the ranks from client services to Director covering most market areas within the print industry.
At Millnet, Simon heads the 24/7 Digital Print operation primarily focusing on meeting clients requirements in both quality and deadlines. Simon has hands on experience in client services, procedures, workflow processes /software and equipment allowing Millnet to achieve clients’ needs both efficiently and cost effectively. Alongside these important strengths and just as importantly Simon has spent the last 5 years building a very strong team of experts at Millnet.
